Swami, Prof. Dr. Sanjay
Prof. Dr. Sanjay Swami graduated from Rajasthan Agricultural University, Bikaner, India with a first class honours degree in Agricultural Sciences and later on obtained post graduate and doctorate degrees in the field of Soil Science with first class from CCS Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar, India. Following this, Dr. Swami took up a research position at ICAR-Central Soil Salinity Research Institute (CSSRI), Karnal, India. Later on, he served Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences of Jammu (SKUAST-Jammu), India as Assistant Professor (Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry) and Senior Scientist & Head, Krishi Vigyan Kendra under SKUAST-Jammu. Presently, Dr. Swami is Professor in Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry at School of Natural Resource Management, College of Post Graduate Studies in Agricultural Sciences, Umiam (Barapani) under Central Agricultural University, Imphal, India. He is involved in teaching UG and PG courses. He is an active researcher in the field of Conservation and Management of Natural Resources, especially in the Indian Himalayan Region for more than 20 years. He handled 5 externally funded projects and contributed over 100 research papers and technical articles in various journals/periodicals of international repute. He has also to his credit 10 standard books and more than 45 book chapters. He has guided/guiding 5 PhD and 13 MSc scholars, attended more than 25 international conferences, presented research papers and won many prestigious awards viz. SCSI Leadership Award, SCSI Gold Medal Award, Young Scientist Award, Distinguished Scientist Award, Outstanding Achievement Award, Bharat Shiksha Ratan Award, etc. He has wide international exposure and visited many countries like The Netherlands, China, Nepal, Bangladesh, Thailand, Mongolia, etc. for various academic purposes. Dr. Swami is editor, associate editor and reviewer of many national and international journals. He is also the expert for NRDC National Awards under the Programme for Inspiring Inventors and Innovators (PIII), a DSIR Grants-in-aid Programme to encourage inventive talent in the Country. His Excellency, The President of India and the Visitor of Manipur University nominated him as a Member of the Fifth Court of Manipur University for a term of three years. He is actively serving as the Chairman of Meghalaya State Chapter of the Soil Conservation Society of India and Member of the International Advisory Council of The Grassroots Institute, Montreal, Canada.
