Harrington, Dr. Alexandra R.
Dr. Alexandra R. Harrington is a Lecturer in Law (Environment) at Lancaster University Law School, Director of Studies for the International Law Association of Colombia and Chair of the IUCN World Commission on Environmental Law Agreement on Plastic Pollution Task Force. She has held two Fulbright terms in Canada at the Balsillie School of International Affairs, focusing on global governance issues, including the 2018 - 2019 Fulbright Canada Research Chair in Global Governance and routinely advises governments and international organizations on a variety of international law issues, including treaty negotiations and governance issues, pollution, climate change, environmental law, sustainable development and international human rights law. She sits on the editorial boards of multiple academic publications.
Dr. Harrington is the author multiple monographs, including International Organizations and the Law (1st edition 2018, 2nd edition 2023), International Law and Global Governance: Treaty Regimes and Sustainable Development Goals Interpretation (2021), Just Transitions and the Future of Law and Regulation (2022), and The Future of Peace: Incorporation of Intergenerational Equity and Justice in Peace Treaties and Reconciliation Agreements (2023), and has served as a co-editor for several volumes. She has authored dozens of book chapters and journal articles and is a frequent speaker at organizational and academic conferences at the global level. She holds a Doctorate of Civil Law (McGill University Faculty of Law), in addition to a JD, LLM and BA degrees in Politics and History.
